Bjørnafjorden International School
A stronger tomorrow

Local roots
International outlook

Bjørnafjorden International School will be a modern lower secondary school with an international profile, rooted in our community and connected to the world. We aim to offer the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), combining academic excellence with real-world learning.

For students

A safe and inspiring learning environment with global opportunities.

For families

An international education close to home.

For industry

A future-ready generation with relevant skills.

For the community

A stronger, more attractive Bjørnafjorden.

EDUCATION CONNECTS PEOPLE

A small school with strong roots and a wide outlook

We want to combine knowledge, safety and clear expectations with international perspective, English-medium education and real-world learning.

Built on local school culture

The initiative grows out of a long local tradition where students are seen, challenged and supported.

  • High academic expectations
  • Close follow-up in a safe environment
  • Critical thinking and independence
  • Strong cooperation with families and community

International learning in Bjørnafjorden

Our ambition is to develop the school towards the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, with a strong focus on inquiry, reflection, communication and subject knowledge.

Inquiry

Students learn to ask good questions, investigate and use knowledge actively.

Reflection

Students learn to evaluate information, methods, choices and their own learning.

Connections

Subjects are linked to real-world contexts and international perspectives.

A school where students are seen

A safe learning environment, close follow-up and clear expectations are central to the school we want to create.

Safety

A small school should make it easier for every student to be known and supported.

Academic development

Students should meet ambitious teaching and build strong habits for further education.

International confidence

English and international perspectives help students grow in language and cultural understanding.

From school to further education and working life

Partnerships with local companies can introduce students to technology, industry and career opportunities before they choose their next educational path.

The school is under development

The work includes organisation, funding, approvals, programme development and dialogue with families, partners and public authorities.

1. Establishment

Organisation, funding and documentation are being developed.

2. Approvals

The school must complete the relevant Norwegian approval processes and any future IB process.

3. Opening

The opening date will be announced when the necessary conditions are in place.

A complementary educational offer

The school is intended to add breadth to the existing school landscape and contribute to the attractiveness of Bjørnafjorden.

Greater choice

A local English-medium option that does not exist in the municipality today.

Attractiveness

A broader education offer can support recruitment, settlement and internationalisation.

Clear responsibility

The private school will carry responsibility for establishment and daily operation.
